1990
The Torres Strait Home for the Aged Association Incorporated was established in 1990 initially as the administering body for the newly built local residential aged care facility known as Star of the Sea Home for the Aged.
2011
In 2011 the organisation relinquished control of the facility to Blue Care but retained the Home and Community Care Program (HACC) now referred to as Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). In 2015 the name of our organisation was changed to Torres Strait Aged Care Association Inc.
2017
In 2017 we purchased the building from which we were delivering our service. The purchase has given us greater independency and stability and proves that we are here for the long term for the good of our elderly people of this area.
